Notes of Hope

A Benefit Concert of Youth Music Education

Notes of Hope is more than a concert — it’s a moment to gather, to feel, and to give back.

On October 5, Catalina Jazz Club will come alive for the first annual Notes of Hope Fundraiser—a night where world-class music meets a powerful mission.

This unforgettable evening features bassist Ryan Roberts, acclaimed jazz vocalist Lia Booth, Grammy-winning pianist Ruslan Sirota, and drum legend Gary Novak performing music from the upcoming Echoes of Change album, along with special selections that celebrate resilience, creativity, and community.

Notes of Hope is a fundraiser for The Bass Shed Academy’s afterschool and community programs, which remove barriers to music education for under-resourced students by providing access to lessons, mentorship, and performance opportunities.

Proceeds fund:

  • Music & Self-Expression Workshop – Teaching emotional literacy and self-confidence through music, helping students find and share their voice.

  • Summer & Winter Soundwave – Biannual gatherings of artists, educators, and musicians of all levels for masterclasses, performances, and community connection across Southern California.

  • Mobile Lessons Program – Bringing high-quality music instruction directly to students without transportation or access to arts education.

  • LowEnd Lab – A community-based workshop and concert series led by veteran musicians to educate, inspire, and unite players of all ages.

In addition, Notes of Hope proceeds also support the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra—providing scholarships and opportunities for young musicians—the Burbank High School Chamber Orchestra, helping fund their 2026 performance at Carnegie Hall, and Altadena Musicians, a grassroots collective that restores the inspiring power of music to those impacted by natural disasters.

By attending, you’re not only enjoying world-class performances—you’re investing in the future of music, and ensuring young artists have the chance to grow, create, and lead.

Without these programs, many of our students would never have access to instruments, lessons, or the mentorship that inspires lifelong growth. When you buy a ticket, make a donation, or sponsor a scholarship, you’re not just supporting music — you’re changing a life’s trajectory.
